While you guys are on the topic, what kind of memory card do I need for my car? I've only had it a few days.does a CF card fit? The slot looks bigger than a CF card to me.

Doesn't it read in the manual? The slot is a PCMCIA interface, the one that you can find from most laptops. You would need a PCMCIA-to-'your memory card' adapter. A PCMCIA to CF adapter would certainly work and is a safe option but others exist too. Google for Sandisk adapters to find more info. If you decided to go for an SD card adapter, make note of the comment from Ron above. I have used a 16 Gb SDHC and a 32Gb Compact Flash.

On boh cards I start to get problems when nearing 16Gb even though I was under the 'known' limitations i.e. Under 256 folders and 4000 files, I start to lose whole folders.

I have posted this before both here and on other forums but no one seems to know why this is happening (at least to me). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Which adapters were you using actually? I've used a 16 GB CF card with a Sandisk adapter without problems, but I don't have it exactly full (and it is a W221).

Is the max number of folders 256? I thought it would be lower at one level and higher totally (nested folders at multiple levels are allowed)? Perhaps you have too many folders at the root level? Or are the files first available but gradually disappearing? Are the files always accessible with a laptop?
